Welcome to the Web site of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Malawi to the United Nations. Malawi was admitted to the United Nations on 1st December 1964 after attaining independence on 6th July the same year. As part of the international community and in accordance with its foreign policy, Malawi, through its Permanent Mission to the United Nations continues to contribute to the international agenda in the pursuit of promotion of international peace and security, economic and social development, respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as protection of the environment for the good of humanity.
